Dmitri Gudkov obtained his M.Sc.
(1990) from the T. Shevchenko Kiev State University. He majors in field of
Radiobiology and Radioecology of aquatic organisms. As a staff member of the
Department of Radioecology of the Institute of Hydrobiology of the National
Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, D. Gudkov studied the impact of nuclear power
plants on the environment. His Ph.D. dissertation �Tritium in Ukrainian
freshwaters and its effects on hydrobionts� was defended successfully on 1996 at
the R.E. Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology
(qualification � radiobiology). D. Gudkov achieved the title of Senior Research
Fellow, Deputy Chief of Department in 1998. Recently he is involved in some
scientific projects devoted to study of radiation effects on aquatic organisms
and behavior of radionuclides in freshwater ecosystems within the Chernobyl NPP
exclusion zone and the regions of the other Ukrainian nuclear power plants
location. He is a member of 7 international scientific societies. D. Gudkov is a
recipient of several local and international awards for scientific achievements.
He is the chairman of Council of the Young Researchers of Institute of
Hydrobiology and author/co-author about of 115 scientific publications.
