Lilia SHAKHBANOVA conducts
research at Moscow State University on the problems of the environmental
insurance systems of the former Soviet Union. Previously, she was a professor of
general economic theory at the Institute of Electrification and Mechanization of
Agriculture in the Ukraine and head of the division of cargo insurance of the
Insurance Pokrov Company in Moscow. An economist by profession, she has
participated in regional economic and environmental fora. She has a Ph.D. in
economics from Moscow University, where she studied the conflicts between
economic efficiency and environmental protection.
