Aivar E. AILAROV is a senior
professor and chair of ecology at North Ossetian State University, where he
specializes in the problems of sustainable development in mountainous regions.
He is co-author of 'Mountains of Ossetia', a publication of the governments of
Russia and North Ossetia. His master's degree in geography is from North
Ossetian State University.
