Eldar Kurbanov is professor of the
forest inventory and management department at Mari State Technical University (MarSTU)
of Russia. Fulbright Scholar at the Oregon State University, he has Doctor in
science degree in forestry from Mari State Technical University of Yoshkar-Ola
(2003). In 1993-1999, he was also head of international relations department of
Mari State Technical University. His interests are: climate change and forest,
sustainable forest management, remote sensing and GIS, international education.
Appointments and membership include the International Union of Forestry Research
organizations (Austria), European Forest Institute (Finland) and international
forestry student association.
