Anatoly V. POLYAKOV is assistant
director of the project 'Crossroads of Civilization,' a regional public endeavor
launched in 1995 to revive nature, historic and cultural heritage of the region.
He is also a pulmonary and homeopathic doctor who lives and works in Volgograd (formerly
Tsaritsyn and Stalingrad). His interest in the interdependence of ecological,
social and public problems was first inspired at meetings of the Society of
Scientists and public organizations belonging to the Ecological Parliament of
the Volga Basin and North Caspian area. Since 1990, he has worked on ecological
problems with specialists from several different branches of science.
