Sergei SHCHERBAK. The candidate
of biological sciences (=Ph.D.), was graduated from Kiev States University and
completed his post-graduate study in Moscow States University. Working in the
Institute of a Hydrobiology of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Sergiy
specialized in the field of biodiversity of hydroecosistems, water resources
management, pisciculture, hydrobiology of urbanizing territories; has published
more than 40 scientific papers,co-author of 2 monografs. In a 1993 won J. Soros
scholarship on the 'Biodiversity' program. Sergiy is one of initiator and of
creation and Director of environmental NGO -The Independent Environmental Safety
Services. The huge interest represents his experience of operation of huntings
-, and also fish inspector (both in USSR, and on Post -USSR space). But after
the graduation from business - school of Ministry of industrial policy of
Ukraine on a speciality - the finance and the credit' Sergiy has joined numbers
of the businessmen - on a speciality - Internet business. He graduated LEAD
programme in 2002, SABIT (US chamber of commerce)internship (environmental
business, education, environmental services)2002, Kinship conservation institute
(free-market approach to environmental issues), 2003, LEAD-DERRA (GB)internship
(Europian environmental policy) 2003-2004. Representative of Marine Physics
Corporation MA,USA, in Ukraine (2001). Participant(hydrobiology, fishery) of
GEF-UNDP 'Dnipro Basin Environmental Program',2001-2002, local expert (zoology)
in the TACIS Program 'Joint river management programme - Pripyat river component',2003.
Completed Lead-Defra internship in London in 2004. Now he works as ecological
specialist in UNDP-Ukraine Chernobyl recovery and development programme. His
hobbies are fishing, hunting, scuba diving and photography
