10:00 Meet and discuss with South East Asia Rivers Network (SEARIN) on natural resources, bio-diversity and environment dimensions of Upper Mekong basin. The discussion also focuses on the impacts of upper Mekong navigation improvement project, flood protection of embankment, riverbank protection structures and fishery resources along Mekong River.

12:00 Lunch at Pornping Tower Hotel.

13:30 Leave for Mae Rim district and visit Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden. Presentation and tour around the Garden

17:00 Recess and return to the hotel.

Briefing and discussion on provincial strategic plan for the North - South Economic Corridor, establishment of Special Border Economic Zone and development potential of the provinces in Greater Mekong Sub-region and policy and planning for natural resources conservation and protection of environment of upper Mekong Basin

12:00 Lunch at Wiang Inn Hotel.

13:00 Leave for Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai province (80 km)

14:30 Arrive and cross border to Myanmar. Observe trans-boundary resource flow and economic development.

16:30 Back to Mae Sai district. Observe cross border trades and economic development around the area.

17:30 Leave for the Golden Triangle (60 km).

18:30 Arrive. Stay overnight at the Imperial Golden Triangle Hotel.

19:00 Dinner at the hotel

08:00 Check-out and leave for Ramsar Site at Nong Bong Kai of Chiang Saen Lake.

09:00 Arrive. Discuss with local officials on the importance of the site for local and migratory birds, particularly water birds, including globally vulnerable species.

10:00 Leave for Chiang Khong District: Observe the Mekong River and discuss the development and economic activities on both sides of the river, sharing of resources between Thailand and Lao PDR and effect on their socio-cultural dimensions due to Mekong Sub-region development activities. Observe topography, land use pattern, forest resources and environment in the area.

12:00 Lunch at Nang Nuan Restaurant.

13:30 Leave for Wiang Kaen district

14:30 Arrive at the hilltop and observe water flow and rocky rapids along the Mekong River. Discussion on navigation improvement project and water management

16:00 Leave for Chiang Rai Province.

18:30 Arrive and check in at Wiang Inn Hotel.

19:30 Dinner at the hotel

13:30 Visit Bangkok urban environmental management projects on solid waste management and peoples’ participation in solid waste management, the community recycle project, the fragrant garbage project and beautiful canal project.

15:30 Boat trip to observe water pollution in Bangkok’s main canals, the impact of Megacities on the quality of water, types of wastes being dumped into the water, problem of urban sanitation and its contribution to pollution and wastewater management.

09:00 Arrive. Briefing and discussion on the roles of NGOs on environmental development, research findings on urbanization in Bangkok and its impacts, environmental situation as well as capacity building and sustainable development for the poor in Bangkok and vicinity.

12:00 Recess and lunch (To be organized)

13:00 Proceed to National Housing Authority (NHA), Bangkok.

14:00 Arrive. Briefing and discussion on roles and functions of NHA, settlements situation in Bangkok, slum upgrading project, quality of life improvement in slum areas, low and medium income housing development for the poor project and financial support for housing from the government.

15:30 Visit a slum upgrading project. Discuss with the community leaders and walk around the slum. Visit a model house for the poor.

Briefing and discussion on critical situation of water pollution of the province with maximum number of industries in Thailand, effect of contaminated wastewater on waterways, paddy farms, fish farming and fisheries along the Upper Gulf of Thailand, physical and ecological resources, layout of the project, wastewater treatment system and components, treatment process and sequences and pollution control.

13:00 Observe ecological, environmental and agricultural situations, natural resources management, conflicts on the use of natural resources and quality of life of the suburban people in the area and along the Upper Gulf of Thailand.

15:00 Recess and proceed to Pattaya City, Chon Buri province (80 Km).
